Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") describes what you can and cannot do with CraneOp. It is part of the Terms of Service. By using the Service, you agree to this AUP. Violating it can result in account suspension or termination without refund.

We wrote this in plain English. If anything is unclear, email legal@craneop.net.

What CraneOp Is For

CraneOp is built for crane companies in the United States. You use it to dispatch crews, manage compliance, send invoices, take phone calls, plan lifts, file mechanics liens, and run the office side of a crane business. Anything that helps you do that legally and professionally is fair use.

What You Cannot Do

You cannot use the Service in any of the following ways.

Illegal Activity

Do not use the Service for any unlawful purpose. This includes operating without required state or federal licenses, evading taxes, hiding revenue from regulators, falsifying OSHA records, falsifying NCCCO certifications, falsifying DOT logs, or any other activity that breaks the law.

If you use the Service to file fraudulent mechanics liens, falsify lift plans, or misrepresent operator qualifications, we will terminate your account, retain a record of the activity, and may cooperate with law enforcement.

Fraud and Abuse

Do not abuse the thirty-day free trial. One trial per business. Creating multiple accounts for the same business to extend the free trial is a violation.

Do not use stolen, fraudulent, or unauthorized payment methods. We use Stripe Radar, 3D Secure, and other fraud-prevention tools. Repeated declined transactions, charge disputes lacking merit, or attempts to use fraudulent cards will result in immediate account termination.

Do not request chargebacks from your card issuer without first contacting billing@craneop.net. You evaluate the Service through a thirty-day free trial with no payment method required, you can cancel at any time to stop future billing, and we respond same business day and fully refund any charge you do not recognize. Initiating a chargeback before contacting us is a violation and may result in account termination plus collection of fees.

Harassment and Threats

Do not use the Service to harass, threaten, intimidate, defame, or bully anyone. This applies to communications you send through the Service (SMS, email, voice receptionist scripts) and to data you upload (employee records, customer notes).

Do not use the Service to dox, stalk, or surveil anyone.

Unsolicited Communications

Do not use the voice receptionist or SMS features to send unsolicited marketing messages, robocalls, or spam. Comply with TCPA, CAN-SPAM, and your state's communication laws. If you are a US-based business, you must register your 10DLC and STIR/SHAKEN with our telephony provider before using outbound SMS or voice.

Do not impersonate another business, person, or government agency in any communication.

Security Violations

Do not attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, other accounts, or any system we control. This includes attempted login with someone else's credentials, brute-force attacks, exploitation of vulnerabilities, attempts to bypass rate limits, attempts to bypass authentication, attempts to inject SQL or scripts, denial-of-service attacks, and any other intrusion attempt.

If you discover a security vulnerability, do not exploit it. Report it to security@craneop.net. We have a responsible disclosure policy and offer recognition (and sometimes bounties) for responsible disclosures.

Reverse Engineering and Extraction

Do not reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to derive the source code of the Service.

Do not scrape, crawl, or extract data from the Service in bulk through automated tools. The Service offers an authenticated API for integrations; use it.

Do not copy, reproduce, or distribute the Service or any of its content (including the design, the code, the documentation, the blog, or the marketing site) without our written permission.

Resale Without Authorization

Do not resell, sublicense, or share access to the Service with third parties. Each subscription is licensed to one company. If you operate as a holding company or run multiple crane operations, contact sales@craneop.net for a multi-entity arrangement.

You may invite team members and subcontractors to your account as authorized users. This is not resale.

Misuse of AI Voice Features

The 24/7 Receptionist is built to handle inbound customer calls professionally. You may not configure it to deceive callers about the nature of the company, provide false information, or conduct sales tactics that violate FTC guidance on automated calls. You must comply with state-level call recording disclosure laws if you choose to enable recording.

Misuse of Customer Data

You may not use customer data uploaded to CraneOp for any purpose unrelated to your business relationship with the customer. Do not sell customer lists. Do not transfer customer data to a third party without the customer's consent.

If you cease to operate the business, you must either close the account (deleting the data) or transfer the account to the new owner under a written agreement.

High-Risk Use Cases

The Service is for crane company operations. It is not certified for and may not be used in any of the following.

Safety-critical applications where Service downtime could cause death, injury, or major property damage. While the Service supports lift planning, the lift plan is one input to a safe operation. You must verify every plan with your qualified personnel and use industry-standard checks. We are not liable if you rely on the Service alone for safety-critical decisions.

Real-time control of cranes, hoists, or other lifting equipment. The Service does not interface with crane control systems and is not designed for real-time operational control.

Healthcare, defense, aviation, nuclear, or other regulated industries with specific data residency or certification requirements that the Service does not meet.

Voice Receptionist Specific Rules

The voice receptionist talks to your customers and prospects on your behalf. We hold this feature to a higher standard.

Do not configure the receptionist to make claims you cannot substantiate (warranties you don't offer, certifications you don't hold, prices you don't honor).

Do not configure the receptionist to refuse to transfer to a human under all circumstances. Customers must be able to reach a human at your company. The receptionist must offer human transfer as an option.

Do not configure the receptionist to extract sensitive personal information (Social Security numbers, full credit card numbers, banking credentials) over the phone. The Service captures basic contact information (name, phone, email, job site, crane size, dates). Anything beyond that should go through a secure channel.

Do not configure the receptionist to record calls without disclosing the recording to the caller, where state law requires disclosure.

Reporting Violations

If you believe someone is violating this AUP using CraneOp, report it.

For security issues: security@craneop.net

For abuse, harassment, or content violations: abuse@craneop.net

For privacy violations: privacy@craneop.net

For general AUP questions: legal@craneop.net

We investigate reports within five business days for general issues, within twenty-four hours for security or safety issues.

Enforcement

When we identify a violation, our response depends on severity.

Minor violations get a warning and a request to correct the behavior. Examples: occasional unsolicited SMS to a contact who later opted out, late SOC document upload, minor TCPA timing infraction.

Moderate violations get a temporary suspension pending review. Examples: pattern of harassment in customer communications, repeated chargeback disputes without contacting us first, abuse of free trial.

Severe violations result in immediate termination without refund. Examples: fraud, illegal activity, security attack attempts, doxing, threats of violence, child safety violations, attempts to defraud Stripe or other payment partners.

For severe violations involving criminal activity, we cooperate with law enforcement and retain records as required by law.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this AUP from time to time. When we do, we bump the version number, change the "Last updated" date, and notify registered customers by email.

Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated AUP.
