How to Schedule Crane Dispatch

Updated May 2026
Scheduling crane dispatch means assigning the right crane and a certified operator to the right job at the right time, then tracking status from assignment through completion. This guide covers the steps from job creation through field confirmation.
  1. 01

Create the job with site address and scheduled time

Open the dispatch board and create a new job record. Enter the GC name, job site address, scheduled start time, crane type required, and any site-specific access notes. The crane type field drives the operator cert eligibility check in the next step.

  2. 02

Select a crane that is available and in service

From the available crane list, select a crane of the required type that is not currently on another job and has passed its inspection deadlines. A crane flagged as out-of-service will not appear in the available list. Confirm the crane's capacity is appropriate for the expected lifts at this job.

  3. 03

Assign a certified operator matching the crane type

Select an operator from the eligible list. The system will only show operators whose NCCCO endorsement matches the crane type being dispatched, per OSHA 1926.1427. If the operator's cert has expired, they will be blocked from assignment. Confirm the operator's availability for the scheduled date and time.

  4. 04

Send the assignment to the operator

Once the crane and operator are selected, confirm the assignment. The operator receives the job details on their mobile PWA including the site address, start time, crane, and any special instructions. The job status moves from Scheduled to En Route when the operator acknowledges and departs.

  5. 05

    Track status through dispatch board

Watch the dispatch board for status updates. The operator updates status to On Site via GPS check-in when they arrive at the job location. The dispatcher sees this update in real time without a phone call. Any changes to arrival time or site conditions can be communicated through the platform.

  6. 06

Close the job and capture the field ticket

When the lift is complete, the operator creates the field ticket from the PWA capturing hours worked, standby time, materials, and site photos. The GC signs the ticket on their device. After GC signature, the invoice is generated automatically and the job status moves to Completed.
